Protecting your privacy is at the heart of what we do
Our Key Privacy Practices
Standards Compliance
LinkIt! has implemented data protection practices that meet or exceed the standards required for country-specific regulations (e.g., U.S. FERPA and COPPA, Australian Privacy Act of 1988).
LinkIt! also tracks state-level privacy legislation or handling PII (e.g., CCPA, CTDPA, VCDPA) and makes appropriate changes to its platform.
Our best practices include multi-factor authentication (MFA), least privilege/least functionality, timely application of security patches, and encryption for data at rest or in transit.
Data Ownership
LinkIt! customers own the data that they entrust to us. We do not sell or share your information with third parties.
Should you wish to terminate your contract, we will return your data securely in a usable digital format and purge all records from our databases and servers.
We also work with customers to validate the accuracy of information.
Data Confidentiality
Each member of the LinkIt! team who interacts with your data receives regular training in data security and student privacy tools and techniques. Access is limited to those with specific need-to-know based on job- and client-related responsibilities.
Anonymization, de-identification, and aggregation are used for creating reports and testing product updates.
Data Segregation
LinkIt! segregates data sets to allow more granular control by local education agencies (LEAs) of what their users can see and do with respect to protected data.
Segregation also ensures that student identifiers from different school districts cannot be inadvertently confused or accessed.
Secure Communications
Communications channels that use virtual private network (VPN), private cloud, encryption (e.g., SSL, secure file transfer, HTTPS protocols), and secure file transfer technologies ensure privacy and confidentiality are maintained to the highest standard.
Cookie Use and Management
The LinkIt! application uses cookies: small text files placed on a user's browser or device to remember preferences, track behavior, store information, or enable specific functionalities. LinkIt! does not share with, or sell to, third parties the cookie information it collects.
LinkIt! implements opt-in/opt-out features for cookies on its public website to comply with country and state privacy laws.
